Melvin Taylor II is an actor, host, producer, writer, and Chicago native living the New York City dream. He studied education & journalism at Knox College and writing at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) New York and The Magnet Theater.
In his debut as a lead actor in the film "The Fruit It Bears", he won 3 'Best Actor' awards and helped the film secure several nominations and selections around the world at various festivals. The film is currently being distributed by Revolt TV and is making its Los Angeles debut at the Pan African Film Festival's 30th Anniversary celebration. His producing experience covers a range of media from podcasts to film and TV as well as working within the AD department on a number of high-profile shows. His writing is grounded in the experiences of being from the south side of Chicago while also juggling careers and heavy life experiences for multiple years.
He currently hosts his radio show #TheAltWithMel on WHCR 90.3FM-NY every Monday night at 11:55 pm EST. Additionally, his weekly YouTube videos have garnered over 2 million views.
