ACTOR'S SPOTLIGHT: **JORDAN BROWN**

Did you originally know the history of "The Legends" that are in this story, or did you find out about them because of this play?

I knew of the them but I didn’t know the history of “The Legends” before being apart of the play.

Do you (cast members specifically) relate closely to your character?

I feel that a do relate to my character.


Do you think the history of the Civil Rights movement is still prevalent today?

The Civil Rights movement is very much prevalent today

Do you participate in today's progressive black movements? And if so, how?

I had not participated in progressive black movements before.

Do you think this play and others like it are reaching the people they need to, to be effective?

I believe this play and others like it are being reached out but I believe more of the younger generation should be reached out to more. There is so much that has happened and it’s important that they know about their heritage and culture.

Do you think the music in this piece is an important part of telling the story?

The music is an essential part of telling the story.

Is being part of this cast and crew an enjoyable experience?

I enjoy every minute of being apart of the cast.

Where do you plan to go in this field of work?

I plan to look into acting a lot more and get more exposure and experience.

What is it like working with the Director?

I enjoy working with the director. While working on a scene, he is able to convey to me what he is looking for with the character I play as.

What is it like working with the Music Director?

The music director is able to give us pointers with how we should be singing throughout the play.

What makes “Chapter 22” so unique?

What makes Chapter 22 so unique to me is having the setting at a church. This is something that I wasn’t expecting but I like how it turns out.

Are the performing arts an important aspect to the African-American diaspora?

I believe the performing arts are an important aspect to the African-American diaspora, because as African-Americans we are able to express how this influenced our culture in many creative ways.
