(Pictured: Danielle Hayes Watson who portrays the character “Stephanie Jones” in “Chapter 22: A Walk Through Time”)
Did you originally know the history of "The Legends" that are in this story, or did you find out about them because of this play?
Yes, I knew about them.
Do you (cast members specifically) relate closely to your character?
Yes. I can particularly relate to the fact that she has such a rich family history with regards to black history. My family was very involved in the civil rights movement so I can definitely understand that perspective.
Do you think the history of the Civil Rights movement is still prevalent today?
Definitely.
Do you participate in today's progressive black movements? And if so, how?
I am a supporter of Black Lives Matter which is currently the primary black movement. In my opinion, much of today’s black movement takes place in social media. I don’t post on social media, so from that aspect, I would have to say yes I participate, but only as an observer.
Do you think this play and others like it are reaching the people they need to, to be effective?
Yes.
Do you think the music in this piece is an important part of telling the story?
I think the song “Calvary” goes very well with the scene.
Is being part of this cast and crew an enjoyable experience?
Sure!
Where do you plan to go in this field of work?
I enjoy singing. I will keep singing in church. I don’t think I will make this a career though.
