ACTOR'S SPOTLIGHT **Shanae Edwards**
Shanae Edwards is a critically acclaimed Gospel Billboard singer, actress, producer, and director who’s currently starring in the production of “Chapter 22” as Paige Johnson.
Did you originally know the history of "The Legends" that are in this story, or did you find out about them because of this play?
A: I knew about Mamie Till, but I learned about the other two legends because of this play.
Do you (cast members specifically) relate closely to your character?
A: I don’t relate closely to Paige, but I can relate to some of her traits.
Do you think the history of the Civil Rights movement is still prevalent today?
A: Yes
Do you participate in today's progressive black movements? And if so, how?
A: Not particularly in the past, but I plan on participating through events like this play.
Do you think this play and others like it are reaching the people they need to, to be effective?
A: Yes
Do you think the music in this piece is an important part of telling the story?
A: I think most of the musical selections help the story along.
Is being part of this cast and crew an enjoyable experience?
A: Yes
Where do you plan to go in this field of work?
A: I plan to dive further into acting, producing, and co-directing.
